Sermon of Dread (1)

The first thing my dreadlocks taught me:

I was at my mom's house and i felt like being outside a few days after completing my dreadlocks and i was not wearing a hat. I stared up at the stars for a bit smoking a cigarette, then i decided to walk around. The trees are kinda overgrown and as I was lazily pacing back and forth under the tree, a branch hooked one of my dreads and pulled on it. Crap... I thought... have to learn to duck under the branch, so it doesn't catch my dreads again. Slowly meandering, concentrating on the wheels spinning in my head, the tree caught my dread again, and again, and again. After the fourth time these words came into my skull:
When one comes up against you, their strategy may be to target your dread(fear)... Not only can you learn about someone/yourself by observing their goals, but you can also learn much by what they avoid... because people tend to avoid what they dread(fear)...

On those things that you dread(fear)...
Deuteronomy 1:28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. 29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. 30 The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

And then to continue my pacing, noticing I was not going to pay real close attention, i opted not to go under the tree any more...

When the Lord Goes before you, Where he leads you...
Proverbs 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. 16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. 18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
